A consumer credit contract may not provide for a security interest over—
(a) Consumer goods of the following kind – beds and bedding, cooking equipment (including cooking stoves), medical equipment, portable heaters, washing machines, refrigerators.
(b) Documents of the following kind – travel documents, identification documents, bank cards.
(c) Any other consumer goods, or documents, prescribed by regulations made under this Act.
This does not prevent the consumer goods referred to above from being subject to a purchase money security interest (pmsi). This is where you are purchasing the item with the finance.
